Fair trade in Kenya, employing women and men with disabilities

Haha... happy birthday to me! I feel like I already did my birthday reflection on Monday's post, and so today I'll keep it short and sweet. Its kind of strange to be away from my family on my birthday. Regardless, I am blessed, loved, safe, and treasured by God. What more could I ask for?

I am very excited to be able to host a birthday giveaway even if I am out of the country, thanks to Jess Argetsinger of Trades of Hope! Say hello to a fair trade, ethical fashion giveaway! 'Ello!

Jess allowed me to choose a pair of earrings for myself and then an additional pair to giveaway to my followers! I am loving these fair trade earrings and the story behind them! Not only are they fair trade, but they are made by a super talented group, similar to this one, based in Kenya. This group employs women and men (85% women) with disabilities. I love supporting organizations which employ those who have difficulty finding employment. This is an example of using purchasing power for social change!

Don't forget to join the giveaway by entering below! Definitely check out Trades of Hope, for Mother's Day gift ideas too. If you are going to give your mama something special, why not give her something that supports marginalized communities that make beautiful products as well? :)

23 and still goin',

  13. My favorite product is the
    Ivory Sands Cuff
    Product # [JBS377]

This stretch-fit cuff lends your summer wardrobe a change of attitude. Ivory-colored beads and tall wood bars make it a vacation.

Countries like India suffer from large populations and low incomes, a mix that often separates families and leads to stories of despair. But that can change with one woman at a time by giving her the tools to make a difference in her life and community.
