So... as we all know, life is life and we aren't really the master's of our own lives as some claim. We may plan and plan and plan, but in the end, it's God who is in charge of ti all and is providing opportunities and opening connections for us as we grow and move in life. It is up to us to decide how and where and what we want to make of those.
I have been realizing this more and more these past few months as promises and opportunities seemed like the perfect plan for me and for the path I was creating for myself. But sometimes people go back on promises and take away opportunities. In the beginning this was a bit devastating for me... but then I realized that God's will in the end is for His children to prosper using their talents and in the way and environment that he sees fit for them, whether it is for a season to teach them something, or for a looooong season because they are prepared and called to that particular purpose.
Although I have (nearly... will be two at the end of this semester) two degrees specified in international trade, with a personal focus in Latin America, I have found that those 6 years of college education isn't my current main focus. My ballet, which I studied 17 years, is what has become a financial provider for me. It is NOT AT ALL what I had expected. When I first decided to be based here in Guatemala I thought that I would have my ballet as a side thing aside from working with artisans. But this has not been the case.
I am so amazed and shocked to see how God crafted and carved and purposefully placed people in my path to give the a perfect fit career. It isn't currently financially the perfect fit - but God always provides. I just feel so blessed to be able to wake up every day and pursue my two loves under one umbrella. I am able to work with and for artisans here in Guatemala and teach ballet on a nearly daily basis (artisans during the day and ballet in the evenings). And it is incredible because through this I am able to reach so many and try to be the best example of God's love that I can. Of course I am far from perfect but I feel my calling here and see how the people here are touching my lives for the better as I am doing for them.
Allow and have trust in God and in HIS TIME his works will surface. Sometimes a few months or years after you request them... but if you pay attention.. God never ignores those who are running after His heart.
28 "One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[f] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[g]There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions."
Have an abundantly blessed day,
Christine
It's not always the easiest lesson to learn... we have plans for our lives and they can change on a dime...even if can't see the blessing, it's there.... eventually with time we'll see the wisdom.
